Thought for Food

Once upon a time, people thought about food.  Not in an obsessive, compulsive, “must have donut” way, but rather in a conscious, deliberate manner.  Meals were planned, executed and savored.  Sure, it probably cost a little more, but it addition to sustenance, meals provided conversation, community and sharing.  Oh yeah, and the food was probably better for you, containing more whole ingredients and less processed calories.

Today, however, we don’t think much about the food we eat.  And that’s really a shame since, in addition to helping define us cultural and socially, the food we eat also helps shape us…literally.  That’s because there is a direct link between the food and personal health that escapes too many of us.  Our unconscious devotion to cheap, convenient calories plays a huge role (pun intended) on the health care debate, with $147 billion spent annually on obesity.

Rooted in organic agriculture, a very conscious decision, the CCO blog hopes to explore various topics around food production and consumption with a goal of inspiring everyone to give more thought for food.  We hope you savor the results.
